Job Description
the painter is responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating works across occupied and void properties, including surface preparation, painting, wallpapering, and finishing. the role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing all work safely, efficiently, and right first time, in line with the correct schedule of rates. a strong focus on customer service and respect for residents' homes is essential to ensure every property is completed to the highest standard.
key responsibilities
undertake painting and decorating works, including surface preparation, painting, varnishing, wallpapering, and minor making-good works where required.
deliver high-quality finishes that meet plb's quality standards and comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
accurately record job details, including materials used, time taken, and completed works, in line with the schedule of rates.
provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly and professionally with residents, treating their homes with respect, and minimising disruption wherever possible.
work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within agreed timescales.
identify and report any additional repairs, defects, or health and safety concerns encountered while carrying out work.
maintain tools, equipment, ppe, and company vehicle in a safe, clean, and professional condition.
skills & experience
proven experience in painting and decorating, ideally within domestic, social housing, or responsive repairs environments.
excellent preparation and finishing skills, with a strong eye for detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
ability to work independently and use initiative while contributing positively as part of a team.
strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach and a commitment to providing an excellent resident experience.
good understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to painting and decorating works.
full uk driving licence (essential).
