Job Description

The role:
liverpool adult learning service is seeking a committed and enthusiastic welfare officer to support adult learners across the city, particularly those with esol needs and from refugee, migrant and asylum-seeking backgrounds. you will play a key role in helping learners overcome barriers, access services and progress into further learning, employment and wider opportunities.

level 2 (or above) qualifications in english and maths
have experience working with learners facing barriers to learning
have experience supporting refugee, migrant or vulnerable communities
be able to signpost and refer learners to appropriate external services effectively
have excellent communication, interpersonal and digital skills
be able to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately
be flexible, proactive and committed to supporting inclusive communities
you will provide advice, guidance and assessment to learners throughout their learning journey
deliver personalised support to help learners overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes
signpost and refer learners to appropriate services including health, housing, employment and support services
work closely with tutors, curriculum leaders and partners to support learner progression
support learners from refugee, migrant and asylum-seeking backgrounds, promoting confidence and independence
build effective partnerships with community, voluntary and statutory organisations
maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance and service improvement
demonstrate strong safeguarding awareness and trauma-informed practice
participate in cpd and contribute to the development of an inclusive, high-quality service
this post is for 35 hours per week term time only.

this position is offered on a fixed-term basis due to funding arrangements and will conclude on 31 march 2027.
