Job Description

About the role
merseyside fire & rescue service are looking to appoint a finance officer to join our accountancy team.

key responsibilities will include:
assisting with budget planning and monitoring expenditure, in particular regarding employee budgets and expenditure
ensuring approved budgets and all financial regulations and contract standing orders are adhered to
maintaining the payroll database and employee structures, this includes making amendments following the issue of position statements, in liaison with hr
assisting in the annual preparation of revenue budgets and responsibility for quarterly variance analysis, including identifying and rectifying any material differences

the candidate must be a part qualified accountant or qualified association of accounting technicians, together with a high standard of maths and english.

it is essential that the successful candidate has experience in the use of a financial accounting application and the use of financial reporting software.

working accurately to tight deadlines, and experience of monitoring and reporting on financial performance and dealing with external application providers are also essential requirements.
in addition, it is essential that you are experienced in working as part of a team within a financial environment and you possess excellent communication skills.
