following the appointment of the school’s dean, professor julia balogun, in 2015 and supported by strong ongoing investment from the university and its ambitious strategy for 2031, ‘liverpool 2031’, ulms is fulfilling its mission to be a globally-connected management school whose transformative research and teaching places it at the forefront of influential knowledge leadership to better business and society. over the last five years, ulms has engaged in extensive recruitment of academic and professional services staff, expanding into a state-of-the-art extension, including a trading room. the school has 230 faculty, 60% international, supported by 80 professional services colleagues.

the economics group comprises 44 faculty members and 20 phd students. the group delivers specialist undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in economics and business economics, and contributes to the school’s other programmes. members of the group regularly publish in top-5 general interest economics journals and leading field journals. the group is organised around four areas of expertise: applied microeconomics, econometrics, economic theory, and macroeconomics. it makes world-class contributions to significant policy issues with high impact, including advice on trade policy, monetary policy, and industrial policy in collaboration with local government and national and international policy institutions. members of the group are closely involved in several interdisciplinary research centres, notably the liverpool advanced methods for big data analytics (lambda) research centre.
we are seeking an inspiring teacher at the level of lecturer on a teaching and scholarship (t&s) track to contribute to the teaching and learning environment, on-site at our liverpool campus. this is a fixed-term, one-year maternity cover position. the successful candidate will be able to evidence an ability to effectively teach a wide spectrum of a core undergraduate economics and business economics curriculum (including microeconomics, macroeconomics and quantitative methods), and be able to demonstrate a passion for enhancing all aspects of the student experience.
the lecturer will sit within the economics group, led by professor giuseppe de feo.
