Job Description
community engagement & enforcement – engage professionally with the public to tackle crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour (asb) through proactive patrols and by using a range of enforcement legislation, provide advice, and address criminal and environmental offences, including the potential removal, detention, or arrest of offenders
incident response & scene management – act as the first responder to security and safety incidents, conducting initial assessments, scene management, and providing emergency assistance as required
use of technology & documentation – maintain accurate records, utilize ict applications for report compilation, issue fixed penalty notices, and prepare evidence for legal proceedings under pace
security & alarm monitoring – respond promptly to alarm activations, ensuring the safety and security of staff, premises, and assets, while supporting static security staff and lone workers
operational equipment management – responsible for using and maintaining equipment such as fleet vehicles, incident vans, electric bicycles, cctv, and body-worn video cameras in compliance with dpa, gdpr, and sops
city representation & public safety – act as a professional ambassador for the city watch service, providing security advice, representing the council at meetings, and fostering community trust. work in close cooperation with internal and external partners, especially blue-light partners to promote the safer parks programme and contribute towards key themes within the council plan such as thriving communities
emergency coordination & support – work calmly under pressure to manage emergency situations, provide trauma aid if trained, coordinate council response teams, and support emergency services
compliance & adaptability – adhere to relevant legislation and council procedures while being flexible to undertake additional duties as required within the role’s responsibilities
