Connect to Work

Connect to Work is a voluntary scheme which aims to support people in ‘hidden unemployment’ who may be disabled, long-term sick or in a disadvantaged group.

It is a key part of the Government’s £240m plan to ‘Get Britain Working’ and shake up employment support.

Who can access Connect to Work?

To join us at Connect to Work Liverpool, you must live in the Liverpool City Region.

You must not be doing any paid work and be available to start a suitable job, or already in work but at risk of losing your job.

In addition, you must have a health condition or disability, or be one of the following:

  • an offender serving a community service, or an ex-offender who has completed a custodial or community sentence
  • a carer or ex-carer
  • a homeless person
  • a former member of the Armed Forces, a member of  the Armed Forces Reserves, or a partner of current or former Armed Forces personnel
  • a person for whom drug or alcohol dependency, including a history of dependency, presents a significant barrier to employment
  • a care experienced young person or a care leaver
  • a refugee or a resettled Afghan
  • a person on the Ukrainian scheme
  • a victim or survivor of domestic abuse
  • a young people identified as being involved, or at risk of being involved, in serious violence
  • a victim of modern slavery

You must also be of working age, and aged 18 or over.  In exceptional circumstances, young people who are aged 16 and 17 may be able to access Connect to Work.

Lastly, you must have the right to work and live in the United Kingdom and not be on an existing Department for Work and Pensions employment programme.
