Liverpool City Council has embarked on a major improvement programme that involves all parts of the organisation. Transport & Highways is especially focussed on delivering a range of improvements across the whole directorate. It has recently completed a service review which has identified the need for a number of new positions to help it deliver its statutory duty in maintaining a highway that is functioning and fit for purpose.

As the Senior Parking Engineer, it will be your responsibility to progress the design, delivery, management and maintenance of parking schemes or projects and to co-ordinate activities with officers and contractors to deliver them effectively and efficiently in accordance with the Council’s policies.

You will be responsible for working with contractors and managing budgets to ensure costs are properly controlled. This is a key role in coordinating parking schemes activity for Liverpool City Council. You will work closely with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to ensure plans are cohesive and compliment other initiatives.

You will report to the Principal Parking Engineer. You will be a self-starter with ambition, keen to learn and progress in the team.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include:

To design the construction and maintenance services of parking schemes and to manage operations for highways infrastructure in accordance with corporate plans and aspirations and all appropriate regulations.
To supply services in accordance with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) 2015 regulations and to comply with Health and Safety at Work requirements with regard to contracts, contractors on site and contract specifications.
To undertake design of engineering works including identification of technical options, taking into account appropriate contract specifications, design manual and the latest developments in the fields of engineering.
To supervise term contract and contractors in accordance with applicable contract law, appropriate regulations and local terms, conditions and specifications, including preparation of contract documentation such as task orders and KPI monitoring reports.
