We have a fantastic new job opportunity with the Children Services Finance Team for a Finance Manager / Systems Accountant who has good knowledge and experience using financial / accounting software packages with excellent analysis, project management, budgeting and key stakeholder management skills.

Working as the Finance Manager / Systems Accountant you will play a key role in the implementation of a new financial / accounting system for Liverpool City Council Schools.

This is an opportunity for a CCAB or equivalent / part qualified or suitable qualified by experience Finance Manager / Systems Accountant to lead on a review of existing financial management / accounting systems in Liverpool Maintained schools and to investigate and implement alternative/upgraded financial / accounting systems in consultation with key stakeholders, in order to develop the overall improvement in the financial management and performance of Liverpool schools and implement a new system.

Working as the Finance Manager / Systems Accountant you will take the lead role for all aspects of the schools financial management / accounting systems from stakeholder consultation, determining the financial systems requirements and developing options appraisal.

Your main duties will encompass:

The effective implementation of school financial systems
Review of the financial accounting and budgeting system for Liverpool maintained schools
Development of accounting procedures in line with the new financial management information systems
Act as the Project Team Lead that and engage with third parties as may be required
Candidate Requirements

Candidates will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Either a recognised professional accounting qualification (CCAB or equivalent) or Qualified by Experience / QBE
Good knowledge of financial / accounting software packages, enquiry packages, corporate and school based accounting systems
Experience of working accurately with procedures and deadlines in a financial environment and providing advice on those procedures
Experience of analysing / reviewing / implementing new financial systems and procedures
Experience of and the ability to prepare budgets and final accounts within a framework of recognised accounting standards
Experience of providing budgetary control and unit cost information
Experience of providing financial information and advice to non-finance managers
Experience of carrying out data analysis and cost comparisons
Experience of staff management and supervision in a financial environment
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, particularly the ability to communicate complex financial issues to managers / headteachers with a non-financial background
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment representing the finance function and with minimum levels of supervision
Ability to manage own and others workload
High level of computer literacy and understanding of information management systems
Ability to work accurately to deadlines
This is fixed term for two years in order to implement a new financial system for Liverpool City Council Schools.
Pay
£48,797.00 - £54,080.00
