REPORTING TO: Education Programme Manager
SALARY: £23,000 pro rata
HOURS: 30 hours/week - Monday to Friday (Flexible working required, may require some evenings and weekends).
12 month fixed term contract

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST

To plan and deliver high quality learning course(s) for adults in the areas of Functional Skills, ICT, Sector Based Qualifications and employability via our academy courses to enable adults progress into employment or to further their education. To have experience of teaching all age groups including young people.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Design a structured teaching programme for each course, in agreement with the Education Programme Manager, that reflects the subject and level and that will match the needs of learners using appropriate Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans and relevant resources.
2. Use appropriate teaching methods to promote cultural diversity, assess each learner’s prior knowledge and skills, establish their learning needs at the start of the course, monitor their progress session by session (using RARPA) and, together with individual learners, evaluate achievement at course end.
3. To be innovative in technology in order to meet the learner needs – bespoke delivery; classroom, online or distance – ensuring inclusive learning is available to all.
4. Develop individual learning plans and celebrate learner achievements – “distance travelled”.
5. Develop learners’ confidence and self-esteem. Ensure that each learner’s contribution is recognised and valued and create a climate conducive to the learning needs of adults.
6. Provide learners with information and advice to ensure learners are aware of potential progression routes to enhance their learning.
7. Complete all relevant administrative and recording tasks related to delivery of the programme, to a high standard.
8. Achieve specified targets and meet deadlines.
9. Contribute to social media, regular updates and good news stories, inspiring the next cohort of learners.
10. Continue to develop professional skills, knowledge and expertise, attending training and development events as and when required.

The successful candidate is likely to be an experienced teacher of adults, with a sound knowledge of how adults learn and the range of approaches that can be used to support them. You will be self-motivated, use your own initiative to ensure that our learners enjoy a bespoke positive experience. You must be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, adaptable and flexible in your delivery to ensure all learners have the opportunity to achieve their potential.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Subject based qualification(s) to a minimum NVQ (or equivalent)
Level 3 [E]
• Minimum of Level 3 Teaching qualification [E]
• Level 2 English and maths qualifications [E]
• Experience of teaching young people and adult learners [E]
• To be highly personable with excellent communication skills [E]
• To be highly self-motivated and able to motive others [E]
• To work with a positive, flexible and professional manner [E]
• To be honest, trustworthy and reliable [E]
• To be organised with ability to produce high quality course documentation and resources [E]
• Able to work with a variety of colleagues and clients from different professions and backgrounds [E]
