Principal Building Control Officer/Plan Examiner Ref:3005994

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Plan Assessment team to provide leadership, support, and quality to a lively city Building Control team. You will have proficient experience in assessing a full range of building developments, typically submitted to a vibrant city Council.

We need a person who has proven team leadership experience, can balance a constant workload, work independently to tight time frames, and provide proficient support to the colleagues and management with the team.

You should have good knowledge/experience in taking care of the following:

Plan assessing domestic, commercial, in scope and industrial building types.
Ability to deliver plan assessments within current statutory time frames
The application of the Building Regulations & associated guidance documents.
Building Regulation enforcement.
Practical on-site experience in delivering compliance.
Dealing with Dangerous Structure/open to access complaints and implementing statutory responses to demolition notices.
Understanding of Quality Management systems and key performance indicators
Proactive marketing of the service and liaising with partner agents.
Working pro-actively and supportively in a team environment.

We also offer a 35-hour working week with a flexible working scheme, which can include some remote working, a dedication to continual professional development/proficiency, 30 days annual leave growing to 34 days after 5 years’ service and enrolment into the Councils generous pension scheme.
