Principal Engineer - Development Ref:3005352

Details
The Role
We are looking to recruit an experienced, knowledgeable and competent Principal Engineer to join our Highways Development Control team. Ensuring that development proposals do not have a detrimental impact on the safe and efficient operation of the highway network and improve opportunities for people to choose more sustainable travel options are key objectives. Interested? We would love to hear from you!

You will have extensive experience in assessing the highways and transportation implications of a wide range of development proposals, taking the lead role in providing advice on major developments as well as managing and supporting other members of the team. The ability to provide clear advice to internal and external partners and to work to fixed timescales is critical to the role. To help achieve this, we would expect you to be solution focused, an excellent communicator and a strong negotiator to ensure the right outcomes. You will be required to prepare statements of evidence for planning appeals and occasionally represent the Council at a hearing or inquiry. There also be a need for you to regularly attend Planning Committee, so you should have a strong political awareness and experience of working with elected members.

Liverpool City Council is committed to having a workforce that is representative of the communities we serve. We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and believe that the decision to appoint should be based upon whether an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications and abilities make them the most suitable candidate for the role. All applications for jobs in the service of the Authority will receive equal treatment irrespective of their race, gender, marital status, age, disability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.

We will ensure that disabled applicants are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
