Job Title – Housekeeper

About the role – 
As a housekeeper you will report directly to the senior in charge/nurse in charge/deputy and Home manager. You will be provided with suitable training and support in order to fulfil your role and you will receive a mentor system via one of your colleagues. There will be the opportunity for progression through NVQ routes moving to HCA/Senior if this is what you wish and if based in a nursing home the future could also support you being trained as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner! Ultimately success in the role is knowing that your residents are well cared for and within a safe environment as well as your own professional development.

Core Duties –
Daily Cleaning: Empty waste bins and wipe out. Vacuum throughout. Shake out cushions. Clean dining rooms / lounges / lavatories. Clean taps and sinks. Clean soap dishes. Clean toothbrush holders. Spot clean all floorings. 
Weekly Cleaning: Polish all mirrors. Clean all pipework in lavatories. Dust handrails and radiators. Move all mobile furniture (including beds and chairs) and vacuum and dust beneath / behind. Wash out metal wastepaper bins. Dust and polish furniture and window sills. Wash lino floors. Shampoo carpets as requested by Home Manager. 

Week One: Dust light bulbs and fittings. Week Two: Dust curtain rails. Week Three: Dust pictures. Week Four: En-suites - remove seat cushions and vacuum / clear out. 
Restock toiletries, soaps, towels etc as and when required. 
Participate in Staff and Client meetings as required. 
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required. 
Maintain professional knowledge and competence. 
Adhere to the Care Home’s disposal of waste policy. 
Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another. 
Understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures. 
Report to the Home Manager, or the Handy Person, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard. 
Promote safe working practice in the Care Home. General: 13. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Care Home. 
Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties. 
Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence. 
Ensure the security of the Care Home is maintained at all times. 
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales. 
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained. 
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.

Skills and experience –
We welcome staff from all backgrounds and skills and experience within the care sector whilst helpful are not always necessary – we can support you with the skills you require to work within the care sector but we really require people who have a passion for the role and the industry and understand the importance of supporting our most vulnerable client group.

Staff are supported to achieve their own full potential whilst delivering the highest possible standards of care, rotas will be organised in advance and set against your core contracted hours to provide you with adequate work life balance. 

Working week – 
Shifts are set at 10 hours per day 8am to 6pm. As we do provide 24 hour care we need individuals to be flexible and also work weekends but we do this weekend on weekend off on the rota, we will also if you wish block your shifts together so if you work x30 hours we would group your shifts as x3 together allowing you x4 days off!

Locations – 
We have homes based at the following locations – Huyton, Liverpool, Preston, Wirral and Ormskirk. We look forward to hearing from you!
