Merseyside Youth Association - Creative and Sports : Merseyside Youth Association - Creative and Sports Training Programmes Ref:16714
- Details
- Merseyside Youth Association offers young people in Liverpool a dual strand model of delivery that uses Outdoor Education and Music as engagement tools. Each of these engagement strands has a strong track record of engaging hard to reach young people. The programme has been specifically designed for young people who are: 17-18 year olds at risk of long-term NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) 18-21 year olds with care experience, SEND needs or involvement in the justice system Young people disengaged for extended periods or at transition points A trusted adult relationship is the ‘golden thread’ throughout each participant’s journey. Every young person is matched with a consistent key worker who offers continuity, personalised guidance, and encouragement from entry to exit. Through this foundation, young people begin to overcome barriers and develop the skills necessary for progression. Core delivery across both Outdoor Education and Music consists of: Initial assessment to identify assets, barriers and aspirations Development of personalised action plans One to one support with their dedicated key worker Group sessions to build peer connection and belonging Access to accredited industry led vocational qualifications i.e. Emergency First Aid Employability Coaching, job search support and progression matching. Strand One - Outdoor Activity Delivered at our centre on Lord Derby’s Estate. Activities will include water sports, archery, bushcraft, team challenges and problem solving. These cultivate transferable skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. Through our challenges, young people build confidence, resilience and self esteem whilst discovering new strengths. Strand Two - Music Delivered at our Recording Studio in the City Centre. Activities will include access to professional lessons (guitar, vocals, keyboard, production), space for artistic development and band creation, and industry led workshops. Participants gain opportunities for live performance, studio recording and showcasing original work. (Some music knowledge/experience is required.)
