Details
Employer overview Alchemic Kitchen CIC is a social enterprise that runs The Queen of Greens. This is a mobile greengrocer which aims to offer a regular service of fresh fruit and vegetables in key localities where there is no current static community provision. Working with and often through existing community, faith and non-statutory organisations, the Queen of Greens helps communities to access affordable fresh fruit and vegetables. Duties Queen of Greens needs to recruit a second retailer/driver to join the team who can drive our bus, sell fruit and vegetables and keep a smile on their face! Initial funding has been secured for 1 year through Bridging the Gap with the intention of future funding to be secured for a minimum of 3 years. This is not guaranteed. (Please note: Self Employment, Secondment or Employment contract options will be considered). This post holder will work alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of our greengrocer service. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend a significant amount of time with local community groups and organisations at the stops alongside being onsite at the Liverpool Food Hub depot where we purchase stock and load our vans. Requirements We encourage interested candidates to apply even if you don't meet all the listed requirements; we value diverse experiences and perspectives that can bring fresh ideas to our team. We need you to be friendly, approachable and kind. In return you will find yourself in a close-knit team who really care about their customers and each other. We offer pension contributions, paid holidays and training opportunities. A clean driving license is essential. This is a physically demanding role and may involve early starts. Key tasks • Work alongside the Senior Greengrocer and the Coordinator to establish good working relationships with appropriate venues across the region to deliver a quality retail experience for all our customers. • Be qualified and competent with the relevant licence and certificates to drive the mobile bus to each of the locations on the assigned route along with pickups of supplies during other times. • Be responsible for the undertaking or organising of any relevant safety/maintenance checks of the vehicle. • Be able to serve customers, handle cash, card and voucher payments. • Keep the vehicle clean and tidy, with good stock rotation. • Able to work occasional scheduled evenings or weekends dependant on the rota agreed every 2 weeks. • Work with the senior greengrocer and coordinator to collect and deliver food as required. • Undertake any relevant training to maintain a clean licence and required certification when required. • Required to follow agreed policies and procedures including Health and Safety to ensure a safe and effective work environment. It is the nature of the work of Alchemic Kitchen CIC that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All employees are therefore required to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises, so that tasks not specifically covered in the job description are undertaken. These additional duties will normally be compatible with the skills and responsibility of the existing work. All employees are required to abide by Alchemic Kitchen CIC’s policies in Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity and Information/Communications Technology. All employees are also reminded of the need to keep all information regarding the organisation, its clients, partners and funders confidential, except where information needs to be shared on a professional basis with colleagues or external partners. General • Able to manage basic admin tasks – filing and keeping receipts, completing task sheets and simple monitoring (training will be provided). • Work to annual targets and provide reports to contract holders/funders and Alchemic Kitchen CIC Board of Directors. • Participate in training and information briefings and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of voluntary sector and job specific related topics. • Ensure the security of the pantry vehicle and other equipment. • Able to travel locally • Attend staff, committee, and other meetings as appropriate and undertake any other work deemed necessary by the Board of Directors to further the aims and objectives of Alchemic Kitchen CIC. Equal Opportunities • Alchemic Kitchen CIC is committed to equal opportunities, anti-discrimination and anti-oppressive policy or practice. No one we have contact with may be discriminated against either directly or indirectly on the grounds of gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, age or impairment. This policy applies to job applicants, employees, volunteers and service users. Notes • All jobs are subject to change from time to time and this job description will be reviewed regularly. The job description is a guide to the work that you will be required to undertake and represents a range of responsibilities in line with the grade for the post. • This post is subject to a 3-month probationary period.
