Success Story

Robert was referred to Liverpool in Work via A4 E for work programme in November 2011.  He lives in Speke and was conveniently referred to the Speke office.  Robert’s previous experience was running a public house and production/factory work.  He had been unemployed since September 2010.  Robert met his Guidance Officer and they worked together to determine his career goals and set clear, realistic objectives for Robert.  Robert was keen to return to a production role but was interested in gaining his Fork Lift Truck Licence to enable him to apply for a wider range of vacancies.  He was also interested in re-training and gaining an SIA licence which would enable him to work in the security industry.

Robert’s Guidance Officer sourced information on suitable Fork Lift Truck training and also arranged for Robert to complete some general courses to improve his job prospects.  Robert completed Literacy and Numeracy training which improved his standard to level 3.  Robert also attended an Interview Techniques workshop to help prepare him for future interviews.  In order to prepare Robert for when he found employment his Guidance Officer also arranged an appointment with an Advisor from the Money Advice service to discuss all aspects of money matters, benefits and better off calculations etc.

 

We set up an information session in conjunction with Carlisle Security to recruit Enforcement Officers.  Robert was advised of the opportunity and went along to the session.  From that session he gained an interview with the employer.  Robert was successful and with support from his Guidance Officer went on to complete security training and gain an SIA licence.  He started work as a full time Enforcement Officer and is thoroughly enjoying his new role.

 

Rob is very pleased he has retrained, gained new skills and gained an SIA licence and has also been lucky to secure employment at the same time within this industry.

The travel passes provided by Liverpool in Work enabled the customer to successfully complete his training and the Monthly Solo provided on securing employment at the end of his course reduced the financial pressure on the customer with starting a new job and having to wait a month until he got paid.
