Success Story

Inga was working with the Five Children’s Centre in Speke when she came across the NHS Pre- Employment programme in March 2018. Inga was a parent of 3 children, originally from Lithuanian and she was looking for a career to support her family. Inga had no previous healthcare experience and aside from raising her family Inga had completed a number of courses to improve her basic skills.  Following encouragement from staff at Five Children’s Centre, Inga applied for the 25+ NHS pre-Employment programme by submitting her CV application. 

Inga attended an Information session at Liverpool Royal Hospital and after Interview was offered a place on the programme.  In June 2018 Inga attended 3 weeks of employability delivered by Wirral MET College which included input from Liverpool Royal Hospital Learning and Development team. Inga attended the NHS Induction training which included a 5-day Care Certificate and completed online training.  Inga had to provide identification documents for a DBS, 3 years of references and attended an Occupational health check.  Inga then completed a 4-week placement within AMU as a Healthcare Assistant.  At the end of the placement, Inga attended a celebration event where she was presented with certificates achieved on the course.  Inga was interviewed by Recruitment and was offered a full time Bank Staff opportunity. Inga had to complete the NHS application process using training and experiences gained throughout the training programme and placement and sit a maths and English assessment.

In December 2018 Inga commenced employment as a Bank Healthcare Assistant. 

Inga says ‘I am more than excited to begin my career within the NHS!  I am being supported with Childcare by Liverpool in Work until my first salary and I can work flexibly around childcare on the Bank.  Alongside employment I am planning my GCSEs next year and now I'm doing level 2 till spring and then pre-GCSE course. Thank you so much to Liverpool in Work, Five Children’s Centre, Wirral Met College and Liverpool Royal Hospital. I am doing a job I love and making my family proud!’
