Housing association recruits specialists to support tenants into work
A North West Housing Association is working with employment specialists to support its tenants into work.
Plus Dane Housing, which has over 13,500 homes across Merseyside and Cheshire, has enlisted the expertise of Liverpool In Work, an organisation which aims to support local people into employment and training -and part of Liverpool City Council’s Employment & Skills team.
Andrea Howarth, Executive Director for Neighbourhoods at Plus Dane, said: “Plus Dane is a housing association with a social purpose and we are committed to supporting tenants in any way we can. Liverpool in Work is one of the main employment support providers in the city, having helped hundreds of people to find the right job or training. This partnership will enable us to make sure that those tenants who might be struggling to find employment will have access to the best support and advice available.”
The programme will primarily focus on tenants in the Toxteth, Anfield and Everton communities.
Employer Engagement Manager at Liverpool in Work, Julia McNally said: “Liverpool in Work aims to support local people into work through job search, coaching and mentoring, work experience, training, skills development, advice and guidance. Despite reports that unemployment figures are at a record low, a recent study has found that there are neighbourhoods where getting a job remains a distant dream. That’s why Liverpool City Council is excited to be working with Plus Dane.”
Ms Howarth added: “Providing services like this to our tenants is even more important as we begin to see the impact of Universal Credit on our tenants.”
Any Plus Dane tenant living in Liverpool who is interested in finding out more information about this scheme should speak to their housing officer, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
